Amanda Rachael Canine (Kuh-neen) once worked as a volunteer for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, with the job of banding the birds of Mercer Bayou, Louisiana. This work, done for the Mapping Avian Productivity and Survivorship (MAPS) project, lasted for several summers. Since then she has continued her bird work with Nest Watch and the Great Backyard Bird Count, and by maintaining many bird-feeders; she's also an avid bird-watcher. Amanda's detailed renderings are influenced by a remarkable knowledge of her bird friends. Her ability to combine realistic images of birds with edgier drip and splatter techniques makes for highly stylized works that please bird lovers as well as art lovers.
